Executive Coaching

prior0052Approach to Executive Coaching

One-on-one coaching with executives takes place in the context of an organization’s mission, culture, and goals.  The goal is to help leaders gain important insights about their impact in the workplace, and to develop actionable and measurable plans for improving their leadership effectiveness. Our approach includes:

Preparing for the Coaching Process

In this contracting stage, the purpose of the coaching is clarified, and a common picture of success is created with the person to be coached and the person’s manager.

Assessing Development Needs

In this stage, assessments are used to uncover insight about behaviors that are contributing to and detracting from leadership success. This stage may include stakeholder interviews and personality type inventories.

Establishing Goals and Development Plans

In this stage, each client receives a summary report of the feedback gathered during the needs assessment stage. Through conversation, the results are debriefed, insights are encouraged, development goals are identified, and a development plan is created that includes goals, activities, timeframes, and measures of success.

Implementing and Coaching to the Plan

Over the course of a three to six month period, meeting on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, coaching conversations take place which help the leader develop awareness, change behavior, and calibrate improvements in leadership effectiveness.

Measuring Success

At the end of the coaching engagement, we’ll compare progress against the measures of success that were identified in the contracting stage, and identify follow up plans.
